Scientists at IBM research India are operating on such an app. Programmed for Android, the app might harness the energy of Watson to guide visitors through museums. The researchers supplied their work in development at a convention for intelligent interfaces in Atlanta in advance this month.

current automatic museum publications "render static facts," and their loss of "interactivity are important hurdles to ensuring a rich and seamless consumer experience," the researchers wrote in the precis of their convention presentation.

The app, known as Usher, might do three matters, they said: feel the vacationer's physical area and supply data about the nearest artwork; provide an interactive question-and-answer service; and alert customers whether or not any of their social media friends are nearby.
